Iran sees itself as Middle East world power.

Speaking at a conference marking the 30th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Ahmadinejad noted that many developed and advanced Western countries don’t have a fraction of the influence that many Middle East nations wield simply by virtue of their location.

And when it comes to the Middle East, Ahmadinejad insisted that Iran is today its leading power, the nation that wields the greatest influence and “has the last say.”

Many experts in Israel have warned that this is precisely the problem with allowing Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. They say it is not certain Iran would actually use those weapons against its neighbors, but by possessing them Iran would actually become dominant force in the region.
