The good old days of slaughtering Jews

The Palestinian leadership has learned how to play the international community, and is now careful to conduct itself with diplomacy and tact when speaking publicly, at least in English.

But many average Palestinians lack that tact, and often let slip their violent hatred of not only Israelis, but all Jews.

That was the case this week when a Hamas-controlled televisions station in Gaza broadcast a “Nakba Day” interview in which a 92-year-old Palestinian woman recounted with joy the mass slaughter of the Jews of Hebron in 1929.

The woman said her father took part in the massacre, happily butchering Jewish men, women and children who had been their neighbors. She went on to wish for a return to such days.

(Translation of the Hamas TV broadcast was provided by media watchdog Middle East Media Research Institute.)

During the Hebron massacre of 1929, 67 unarmed Jews, many of them women and children, were mercilessly killed by a blood-crazed Arab mob.

The British authorities who at the time ruled the region lamented the despicable crime. Their solution was to force the rest of Hebron’s Jewish community to evacuate immediately, leading to today’s claims that the city that was once King David’s first capital is an Arab city under Israeli occupation.
